Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Warning Date: 2:42 PM MST on July 15, 2014

WarningSum:

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Maricopa County in south central Arizona...
this includes the cities of...Sugarloaf Mountain...Ballantine
  trailhead...Fountain Hills...
* until 445 PM MST
* at 238 PM MST thunderstorms over the advisory area have produced
heavy rain. Doppler radar estimates that up to an inch of rain has
fallen since 2 PM this afternoon. This will cause normally dry
washes to begin running as well as ponding of water on roadways
  and low lying areas.
* Locations that may experience minor flooding include but are not
limited to Rio Verde...Fountain Hills...and Granite reef dam and
  Saguaro Lake area.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Advisory means that normally dry washes and streams will
suddenly have running water. Unbridged crossings may become
hazardous. There will be ponding of water on streets and low spots
causing traffic to be impeded. If you encounter ponding or flowing
waters...do not attempt to cross by foot or automobile. Turn
around...dont drown.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Remember...turn around...dont drown.

210 PM MST Tue Jul 15 2014
...The small stream Flood Advisory remains in effect until 415 PM MST
for extreme east central Maricopa and north central Pinal counties...
At 207 PM MST heavy rainfall has fallen across portions of the
advisory area and in particular across US Hwy 60 from Superior and
eastward towards Globe. Since 12pm estimated 2.5 inches of rain has
fallen in the area of Superior. Storms over the area look to be
falling apart so the heavy rain threat may decrease...however
lingering runoff and running of washes will continue. Drive safe and
if approached with flooded roadways turn around.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

138 PM MST Tue Jul 15 2014
...Flash Flood Watch in effect until 8 PM MST this evening...
The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east-central Arizona and south-
  central Arizona...including the following areas...in east-central
Arizona...southern Gila County/Tonto National Forest foothills. In
  south-central Arizona...greater Phoenix area...northwest Maricopa
County...northwest and north central Pinal County and southwest
  Maricopa County.
Areas most likely to experience problems are higher terrain and
  adjacent foothill locations.
* Until 8 PM MST this evening.
* Slow moving thunderstorms will produce very heavy rainfall capable
  of producing localized flash flooding.
* Flooding of washes...creeks...green belts...and other drainage
areas is possible within the watch area.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Those living along normally dry waterways...as well as outdoor
recreation interests...are urged to pay close attention to the
weather and be prepared to take swift action if heavy rain and
flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Motorists are
urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways.
Stay up-to-date on the latest forecasts by visiting the National
Weather Service at weather.Gov/Phoenix or by listening to weather
radio on the public service band.
